Pros
Some great people in the warehouse team who are always willing to help, and can really lift the mood. The job itself is easy and straightforward to learn. When you first start you will be picking and packing orders. The pay rate is okay, as far as warehousing goes. Most warehouses pay around £10.38 per hour. But to have a starting pay of £11.16 per hour is reasonable. Flexibility is good, so making time for appointments or personal matters can be arranged.
Cons
Most of the job roles are monotonous and very physically strenuous. You can easily walk 10+ miles per day. Orders can weigh 25kg and with little time to catch a breath you go home feeling sore, exhausted and burned out. There was a lot of internal politics that created friction and stress, especially when it came to new ideas. Personality clashes between team members meant at times there was a hostile atmosphere. KPI’s are powerful tools, if they are used as indicators to measure the delivery of goals. It was frustrating to see KPI’s becoming the goal and turning into a toxic material, being used as a punishment tool against colleagues. I didn’t think there was a clear route for progression or career development, unless you were close with leadership, or they knew you personally.
