Pros
Access to latest AI tools Comp is slightly above average, but most mid-sized established companies or even startups can match it Good people and managers still exist but they can't protect you from the recent policy changes that come from above
Cons
Laptop screen time is tracked via ActivTrak with a score on how much time each week you've spent on productive vs unproductive apps/websites MR counts/line contributions/comments/approvals are also tracked and your manager will have a talk with you if the numbers are not high enough, even if you happen to be working on projects or platforms that dont directly contribute to MRs on gitlab 10% annual PIP quota A lot of good colleagues have left or are looking for a new job If the company wants to PIP you, they'll rig it against you, doesnt matter if you fulfilled 99% of the items, they'll use the one item you missed as reason to fail your PIP (Have heard of 3 such cases already) Visibility > Actual Impact You have to announce and make sure what you're doing gets noticed by Skip ++ and other Lead Engineers, just your team alone knowing you did good work isnt enough Complexity > Simple solutions which work People are encouraged to build complex solutions which are not required just to justify promotions since one of the main requirements is showing you're capable of handling large complex scope If you took a complex problem and broke it down to simple non-ai solution, it wont matter much during performance calibration
