I lowered my salary, the grade and the complexity of tasks joining the company: I made a conscious trade-off when joining, accepting a lower salary, a lower seniority level, and overall simpler tasks, expecting other benefits like growth or stability, but over time this gap hasn’t been compensated by learning opportunities or impact. Cheap and slow Windows laptops combined with poor quality screen with good resolution but the display type is cheap: The provided hardware significantly affects productivity — the laptops are slow and not suitable for modern development workflows, and while the screen resolution is technically high, the panel quality itself is poor, which makes long working sessions uncomfortable. They don't allow to use Copilot and many other handy services due to ancient security constraints: Due to outdated security policies, many modern development tools like GitHub Copilot and similar productivity services are restricted, which slows down development and limits the ability to work efficiently using current industry practices. Unstable remote desktop working system: The remote desktop setup is unreliable, with frequent instability and performance issues, which interrupts workflow and makes even simple tasks unnecessarily time-consuming. Poor designs by the only junior designer: Design quality is inconsistent due to limited experience and lack of senior design guidance, which results in unclear UX decisions and requires additional effort from developers to compensate. Poor code quality: The codebase lacks consistency and maintainability standards, which increases the time needed to implement changes, introduces unnecessary complexity, and makes long-term development harder.
