Cons

This review is for the DoubleTree location in Chandler, Arizona, managed by Granite Hospitality. Let's put it this way. This hotel had a strange feeling about it from the beginning. The way they were dressed during the interview alone was a big red flag. Management has no experience; this is all a learning exercise. It gets played out fast. I would say lack of understanding, but they choose who they make excuses for. Abusive behavior is okay. Being lazy is okay, being unhelpful is okay, and chaos is okay in the realm of the managers and their favorite employees/vested interests . They choose not to understand that you are an employee/individual not OWNED by them. Anything you say will be held against you, an example of this if you email the manager to warn them about a situation that happened with a guest, they will take that information and use it against you. It's that place, the toxic employer; keep your head down. General management lacks experience as well and is downright selfish; instead of cleaning house of bad behavior, it is allowed so that no extra work lands on their shoulders and that department shift is covered. I dare to say drama is encouraged and entertained/invited by upper management taking the side of vested interests is more important then doing what is right; some employees act like this is some kind of corporate ladder they are climbing all to make themselves look better and impress a manager who doesn't know what they are doing; the not-so-good things get swept under the rug. It's very insulting when management tries to manipulate you like you have no clue what's going on. They expect you to do things they cannot do themselves and never did. If allowed, you will be treated as the Cinderella in the company if you defend yourself, as you should be sure to know the scheming/plotting begins. Management is phony; they lie and will make false statements against you. They exacerbate situations. Little things bother them, like a staple in an envelope for the cash drop—just ridiculous things you would never think of. It's the kind of management that took the job so they wouldn't have to work; however, management should be leading by example. Playing the victim is another role played, a room full of bad actors. Projecting playing, games, chaos and being spiteful is the name of the game here. I recommend staying clear until another company buys them and replacements are made. Maybe bring some sense back to this building. This team has a power and control problem but has no clue on how things are supposed to be run and are out of control themselves, good morale character doesn't exist here. Management will not stand up for what is right; it is full of corruption and completely immature, these are not good people. I recommend not working for a company that skips a background and drug test. Truthfully it's a dead end job definitely not worth getting upset over. Keep in mind they offer No 401k; if you get a lunch, it comes out of the check No holiday pay. It's literally a paycheck only; there are no perks here, just drama and aggravation if you let it. Benefits offered are what has to be by law. The clientele can be awful, some good but not the typical professional hotel businesspeople.
