Pros
Interesting, challenging and cutting edge work. Ownership of work and the work has good real world impact. There is a lot of freedom to the work that you get to do.
Cons
Management of employees is not good. Sometimes you will have work that will keep you occupied for more than 60 hours and sometimes you will struggle to put in 20 hours a week. Have to ask for work and work is very unevenly distributed. Team structure is very loose and unofficial. You will need to do work far beyond your expertise and employee yearly review system was quite bad until very recently. The management should give some advance notice if things are going wrong so that the employee know where they stand with respect to their performance.
