Pros

-Smart, dedicated people -The company is small enough to allow everyone to work creatively across multiple departments, but large enough that they have the resources to take on important and sometimes riskier projects -They value good literature, and they have an incredible backlist to prove it. Plus, they consistently publish new authors who often go on to win major awards -Vacation and benefits and Xmas bonuses

Cons

-No HR (understandable because they are a lean company, but there were times when it would have been useful to have an HR rep) -Not too much room for growth unless someone in a senior position leaves

Pros

-The culture is a laid back atmosphere but people are so passionate about their books -learned a lot about rights and how books get licensed and sold to foreign publishers as well as audio publishers -Read manuscripts on submission and got to evaluate them

Cons

-you wear a lot of hats, which is overwhelming sometimes

Pros

Nice people. Nice list. Not corporate.

Cons

Lower pay than elsewhere. But that's the tradeoff for not working at a big 5.
