Pros
- Flexible work environment - Peers are very knowledgeable and work great as a team - Top down company, very much working for a boss (which is good if you have a good boss) - Great exposure to working with senior management - For the most part, managers let you work on the projects they assign to you without micro management
Cons
- Happy with my starting pay, but promotions take 3-5 years and are only around $5K at most - 401k matching is standard (contribute 6%, company matches 3%), a bit low for my taste however. Small company contribution into HSA as well ($100 bucks a year or so) - Top down company causes work to be always "chasing the shiny thing" there is a lot of task switching to different projects depending on which senior manager wants to make an impact. From my observation, Guardian is fairly quick to fire middle managers for not performing which I think causes an adverse effect that middle managers always have to be making an impact even if its a short term gain that wont substantially benefit the company in anyway but will require a large amount of effort.
