Pros

Great entry to the overall finance industry. Good for series licensing and insurance licensing. John Hantz is an interesting guy.

Cons

This company is quite literally a nightmare. Where do i start? Is it the constant drama and micromanaging in the back office? Or the bottom tier wages paid to employees? Hantz group will suck every bit of work they can out of you for as little pay as possible. There are no incentives to make more money for employees except some sob story about personal growth and to always “prepare for an opportunity” with no real direction career wise. The operations supervisors are the most out of touch and heartless managers perhaps in the entire industry. They do not care about their employees and do not offer any employee appreciation events, happy hours, morale boosters, group activities or anything other than processing the “biz”. You could go hang yourself in your office and it would probably take them two days to notice because everyone is so focused on their agenda. Unfortunately this environment is very very cult like and the turnover is like hunger games. They will work you until eventually you wake up from the brainwashing of “cathedral plans” and being forced to listen to the band every thursday which is really just a collection of advisors and svp’s from around the company. It’s a constant race if who can impress John Hantz the most in hopes that he will offer you a cigar and a conversation. Not a raise. There is an overall spirit of hopelessness that plagues all of the back office employees. They will reward certain individuals based off of nepotism and if you are not in the circle of trust people will plot and cause constant drama to further their careers. I started this job at 36k in 2020 and since have begged for raises to just get to a place where i could afford basic human needs. I’ve worked at multiple companies and I know when something is not right. People deserve to feel important and good about the work they do. Especially if they are expected to spend so much time away from there family. There are holes in the walls of your office and you will not get an ounce of freedom beyond your 1 hour of lunch. There are no accommodations for special life events like the birth of a child or the death of a family member. You are expected to be right back to work after a few days like nothing ever happened. No 401k match. No bonuses. No employee appreciation. No upward mobility unless you are related to John Hantz. He will promote you to a direction even over those who are more qualified and have put more work in than you. The back office supervisors have a false sense of reality and are protected by the walls of Hantz group. If they pulled any of the antics outside of Hantz group they would be ridiculed and shamed. For anyone reading this, thank God that you are now aware of such a terrible terrible company . Please stay far away. You’re better off going to do valet or be a blood donor. And i genuinely wanted to live out a career here, it just seemed people were too caught up in ulterior motives and egotistic agendas. Oh well.

Pros

Company gives real opportunities to advance and grow. Not a dead-end job at all.

Cons

Tax season hours are long, but nothing outside of the industry norm. It's tax season.

Pros

Learned enough to gain some preliminary experience. Some ppl are nice enough to sometimes go out of their way to teach

Cons

When they say “training” it’s just you sitting behind the computer watching videos and answering questions on what you got out of them. I’ve seen enough nepotism and neglect from some of the higher ups where it has become the cultural norm of the entire company. Once a week on Thursdays, with the occasional one Friday a month, they have podcast run. You’ll be told that those podcast are a must watch and no work can be done regardless of whether you are behind or not. and to be quite honest, you won’t learn much, if anything. Too much unnecessary rambling that it makes you question the overall point of them. Benefits absolutely reek of ludicrousy. No 401 match, 15 total pto days (10 vacation, 5 sick), and if heaven forbid a family member goes they give you 3 days for that and expect you to come back like nothing happened. If you come in with little to no experience, yes you’ll learn a lot but they’ll exploit it by starting you off low and overworking you at the same time.
