Pros
I really miss my students. The 'school' also doesn't check any references or DBS documents. They will employ anybody (this should be a con)
Cons
The owners run a restaurant, but they also do a side line in education. Management would pester the teaching staff to do waiting and bar shifts at weekends. The online advert promised a private academy. Instead I was required to teach on average at 4 different schools per day. Travel expenses were not reimbursed. A typical day would consist of more hours traveling than actual teaching or planning. And the wages were pretty terrible. The worst example of offending commutes is as follows, a member of the management would drive to a town one hours drive away, teach for an hour in a primary school and return. Altogether a three hour round journey for one hours pay. This was topped off by the member of management's in car diatripe, where we learned that 'my daughters school is full of retarded kids' (children with disabilities). Absolutely disgusting. And to be locked in the car with this person for over an hour. I shudder to think. As for teaching resources, I had to buy my on board markers. The flashcards provided by the school were so bad that I also had to buy my own flashcards. And as for technology? Don't expect tablets or video monitors of any kind. Understandably the staff turnover was very high. I remember during January 2020 we had 3 new members of staff leave within 1 week of starting. The place had a very unfriendly atmosphere. I really feel sorry for the poor students who signed up to this place. The city of Genoa has many better real schools. If you are a English teacher who has stumbled on the school looking for a good job, I would not recommend. The organisation is a real 'Del Boy' outfit.
