Pros

Harwin is a Stable Company. The Owner runs the place profitably and has good overall control of the business.

Cons

Old school, old values, old fashioned. Always a tie, no dress down Friday here! Difficult to progress and develop unless your face fits, they have a policy of hiring at a good salary if they want you and then...............no pay rises (not even cost of living) for many years. For me, they used me as a hammer, as soon as I started, to beat down the other middle management, making it difficult to ever recover status. No Management support and I was severely embarrassed by them in front of my peers on many occasions. There is a culture that Management is always right..... and you had better not forget or step out of line. There is a culture of 'strong arm' tactics from the Senior Management and most company memo's include the words 'disciplinary action will be taken' even if the memo's relate to Christmas Party's, etc. Most staff will speak of Harwin being a great place to work', in my opinion they are frightened to say anything more. Glad to not be there anymore.

Pros

Started my career at Harwin in a Customer Service role and have been given opportunities throughout my journey to take on new responsibilities, develop new skills, and grow professionally. Over the years, I have had exposure to different aspects of the business, including sales, distribution management, marketing, operations, supply chain, and business development across the APAC region. One of the strengths of Harwin is that management is willing to trust employees with greater responsibilities when they demonstrate commitment and capability. The company provides opportunities to step outside of your comfort zone, learn different functions, and contribute to business growth. This has allowed me to build a broad understanding of the industry and develop both professionally and personally.

Cons

As the business continues to grow, employees often need to manage multiple responsibilities and adapt quickly to changing priorities. This can be challenging at times, but it also provides valuable learning opportunities and exposure that may not be available in larger organizations with more specialized roles.

Pros

A recent review appears to contain inaccurate information and may have been submitted under a false identity. There are indications that the review may not have been written by the individual represented in the post. As the content directly references matters associated with my responsibilities and professional conduct. This creates a misleading impression of my performance and character. Reviews as such inaccurate statements or misrepresented identities can negatively impact both individual reputations and the company's brand. I remain committed to supporting the organisation and maintaining professional standards between both parties. Through the boss own unique methods of coaching and guidance, he pushes individuals out of their comfort zones helping individuals develop new skills, gain confidence and unlock opportunities for career advancement. Sending individuals for overseas training, work trip and courses in Singapore to enhance work skills or skills in demand. Unknowingly this culture of continuous learning enhances professional capabilities but also fosters personal growth, making employees empowered to achieve more than they thought possible. Working in such an environment creates a strong sense of purpose and encourages a growth mindset, where challenges are viewed as opportunities to learn and succeed. Employees who embrace feedback and personal development are likely to thrive in this environment.

Cons

This environment may not suit everyone. The culture places a strong emphasis on personal accountability, continuous self improvement and being challenged to grow. While few employees thrive under this approach, others may perceive the expectations as demanding or feel that their efforts are not sufficiently recognised. When individuals are not aligned with the organisation's mindset, it can lead to frustration, disengagement or feelings of underappreciation. Over time, this misalignment may affect team morale and create a negative impact on the overall workplace culture.
