Pros
-Recognizable, global brand name that carries weight on a resume.
-Exposure to senior business/client leaders and high-level projects.
-Brand new Seaport office in Boston. (ie., Havas Media and Arnold Worldwide).
Cons
-Feedback is inconsistent and often unclear. For example, I spent 6-7 months receiving extremely lengthy ‘feedback’ emails, only for them to stop abruptly after leadership changes at the start of the new year, Over this timeframe, despite our live discussions leaning positive, a written "paper trail" of feedback seemed to relentlessly follow me, making it impossible for me to break out of this pre-determined box of how leadership seemed to view me, my "potential", and my work performance. This inconsistency with how performance was measured and feedback was delivered was extremely demotivating, and made it difficult to understand the expectations of the role or track any sort growth.
-There are also no written role rubrics used for defining expectations of the role, which would come in handy when it comes time to measure performance, say, during the performance review cycle. From the start, you’re expected to perform as if you’re already operating at the next level, yet without the structure, support, or guidance to get there. If you really thrive in a true sink-or-swim environment, this may be just be the perfect job for you.
-Many senior leaders demonstrate poor attitudes and create a top-down, unapproachable environment. Not all of them, but many.
-Fear-based culture of perfectionism.
-This role has turned over twice in the past 2.5 years due to similar reasons.
