Pros

I have worked at Health Catalyst for less than a year. I was part of an acquired acquisition so I didn't seek out employment at Health Catalyst, but I am very glad it did happen. I truly believe the statement that things happen for a reason. The upper management, and all staff that I have been in contact with since day 1, have been so friendly, welcoming, and beyond willing to help and guide me in any way possible. Health Catalyst is very family oriented. They feel that all team members are family and it shows. Upper management is very open about employees taking time for themselves, whether it be for self care or to spend time with family. I love that the work schedule is flexible in that I can adjust my work hours for appointments or family needs. Health Catalyst offers a generous benefits package, which includes many monthly reimbursements.

Cons

Since this is a data company and I have a clinical background, it has been very difficult to listen to many of the team meetings where they discuss many of the data projects they are working on or finances and use terminology and acronyms that I do not understand. There are many different aspects of the company that I don't even know what they do...but they all come together to make a very successful company. Another con is that there are various "places" within the company for communication...email, Mavenlink, Teams, and Slack. I personally don't like to have to manage more than my email.

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
