Pros
- decent (not great) medical benefits - very good vacation and sick leave grants - work life balance
Cons
- organization in constant state of reorganization, there have been 4 CIO's in 5 years - lack of direction from top, largely because HSSBC does not have a budget it controls therefore it cannot create direction - organization has accomplished very very little in 5 years of existence - very little value on investing in employee skillsets, however managers are constantly being sent on training - roles are very granular and defined, you do one very small piece with no ability to gain or enhance a rounded skillset - little to no opportunity for career advancement, punch the clock and wait for your pension at the end - wages are 20% - 30% below industry average for Vancouver area, even in a unionized shop people are paid at different rates for the same job title. lip service has been paid for 5yrs however no real attempt to resolve wage descrepancies
