Pros
Healthedge is a provider of claims processing software for the health insurance industry. It's a relative newcomer, with newer innovative technology, to the industry having entered the market in the mid-2000's (compared to some longstanding competitors around for 20+ years). The biggest upsides to working at Healthedge includes an enterprise-wide Agile Development culture, even in areas of the company that are not developers. The Agile approach leads to a get-it-done culture that rewards cooperation, transparency, and identifying and solving problems early. Hierarchies and reporting relationships were rarely discussed or noticed. What was valued was being effective in getting things done. The work was rewarding and challenging and good people had opportunities to advance.
Cons
The downside of the Agile culture, at least as applied at the company, is that it focuses on a series of activity sprints that cycle one after the other. Consequently, there was relatively little time spent on reflection and planning, leading to the company not seeing the forest for the trees, to use an over-used phrase. Some key strategic shifts in the market were missed because there wasn't much of a venue to take stock of those types of things.
