Pros

There are absolutely NO pros to working here. It's a complete chaotic nightmare where the CEO abuses her employees 24/7. The few positive reviews on here come from the "YES" sycophants who have learnt that the only way to survive here is to just say "YES" to everything the narcissistic, toxic, abusive CEO/Founder Shanda Sumpter says. They are cowards who refuse to speak up about anything no matter how bad things get because a) they are afraid to lose their jobs from childish revenge-based tactics and b) nothing you say will ever get through to this woman because she is mentally unwell. There is absolutely no reasoning with Shanda on ANYTHING because she is flat out delusional and she lies constantly. You can present hard data and evidence to her on virtually any topic that needs decision making and no matter how 100% the evidence is, she will tell you that's not the way things are. Here are two clear examples: She will write you instructions on something and then completely deny that she ever told you to do it even if you show her what she wrote! If you tell her you just had a conversation with several other employees about something who both stated they are confused about something she will say "No, they're not" despite never having spoken to either of them. Literally psychotic.

Cons

Everything. I can confirm as a former manager here that everything the negative reviews say about Heartcore and Shanda Sumpter are 100% accurate. She publicly humiliates and shames her employees in front of the entire team for absolutely no reason other than to try and fill the huge black hole of trauma inside herself and a pathetic attempt to make herself feel better about herself for a few seconds. I've seen her go on a 5 minute abusive public rant at someone who just returned to work after an absence because their spouse died ... all because they were late coming back from lunch on their 2nd day back. She talks bad about EVERYONE in the company behind their backs. It does not matter what level... whether you are the COO or a tech person. Like most narcissists, she has no boundaries and thinks she owns her employees 24/7. She will text and and call you at all hours of the day and all days of the week. She will constantly blow up EVERYTHING you work on at the last second due to her own unhinged panic and fear and delusional thinking. When approached about this issue after the team worked very hard on something for several weeks that she completely tossed out an hour before launch she said "Well, they got paid the same didn't they?" Then she will chastise you if you cannot change everything in a ridiculously short amount of time after blowing everything up. These completely unreasonable expectations not only come from her complete lack of understanding of what anyone's job's in the company actually entail, as others have stated, it also comes from her consistently bizarre behavior of comparing everyone to how fast and successful other "people she knows" or past employees could do something. But of course none of these claims actually true at all. Then when she has everyone running around with their heads cut off scrambling she will chastise you for not being a great Leader, despite being the absolute worst Leader and communicator I have ever known in my entire life. She will find a new thing to assume and accuse you of not doing or not doing well/fast enough without having ANY knowledge of whether it was even done in the first place (and then tell you to do something completely different than she told you to do the day before anyway). She will always assume the worst of you because that's how she feels about herself. The company is failing financially and no matter how many people from the outside she tries to bring into fix it they will not succeed because SHE is the entire problem but no one has the courage to tell her that. My mistake was actually calling her out for all this garbage and pushing back to actually help her, her employees and the company. As soon as she knew someone was starting to stand up to her, she iced me out and started doing everything behind my back because she cannot handle anyone but having "YES" women around her at all times.

Pros

The mission behind HCB is gratifying because it helps our customers grow their lives and their businesses at the same time. I find it rewarding to work here and see the positive impact we're making. I enjoy the team I work with and learn from. Shanda Sumpter constantly challenges me to grow, which is an asset I cherish, both personally and for my work development. Not to mention how incredibly flexible the work-life balance is. For me, as a military mom of two young children, that itself is the biggest blessing.

Cons

In 20 years of working in finance, I have never started at a company where everything behind the scenes was a well-oiled machine from the beginning. Turnover and a lack of SOP communication are the most significant breakdowns I see repeatedly. Meaning when someone exits, they are not properly training the next in line, and over time, responsibilities fall to the wayside. This is very common and a good description of HCB falling under those same working conditions, making it difficult for the wrong people at the wrong times to enter a new workplace. However, it starts from what can feel like being in the weeds, which is not a proven environment for everyone.

Flexible hours, work from home.

I was involved with and worked for this company in various capacities, and in various departments. They exploit leadership training graduates to become leadership coaches under the guise of furthering their education in exchange for unpaid coaching for 4 months. Also the way they run the Leadership training is just a scam, and they use the leadership language and ideology to gaslight and manipulate the students and coaches to enroll more and more people into the program. I also worked as a virtual assistant servicing the clients in the coaching program for over 2 years and was never an actual employee, just 1099’d. Never got benefits, health insurance, or anything. And that was typical for any person working for this company. For a multi-million dollar company to take care of their staff that way is just horrendous. Also the turnover rate is extremely high because the conditions are awful. Shanda, Ash, and a lot of the management use Leadership to manipulate everyone to buy programs that they know only have a tiny success rate. Also they are homophobic, transphobic, and have used right-wing talking points during conferences to manipulate their audience into buying trainings out of fear.
