Pros
I just completed 12 months of working on the marketing team. I can honestly say that the negative reviews on here are a poor representation of the company. I applied to Heartland desiring job security, work life balance, and professional growth opportunities. All three of these were achieved without compromise. A sharp contrast from other companies I've worked at prior. The culture here also feels genuine, like a bunch of people from different backgrounds coming together over their shared passion for pets. It never felt like a set of values developed by a leadership team that you are asked to buy-in to.
Some additional highlights are:
- Remote work
- Pay is competitive
- Great team working at the support center
- Leadership that feels like they care about you as an individual, beyond what value you bring to the org
Cons
Heartland grew fast prior to me joining and has continued growing since. With that can come periods of transition, new processes, and new technologies to learn. If you are the type of person who loves routine and knowing exactly what to expect from every day, this might not be the company for you. Though in my experience, most companies these days are going through changes of some kind, and some manage it better than others. Heartland certainly does so strategically and with intent. I've never been given the impression that a change happening here is done reactively or for the sake of changing. There are always valid reasons provided.
