Pros
I have been working at Henderson Engineers' HQ Office (Lenexa, KS) for 8 months now, and it has been made abundantly clear to me how much this company values its employees. Definitely the best engineering work experience I have encountered. A few things I love about working here: -Amazing work schedule flexibility. Their core hours run from 9am-4pm, and so long as you work those times and get all of your hours in, they are very open to whichever schedule you set for yourself. Why more firms don't do this is a mystery to me, it works incredibly well. -Casual vibe. There is no dress code, most come to work in T-shirts and jeans/shorts. Random events are thrown regularly around the office to relax with coworkers, occasionally with alcohol. General work time is very low stress, and as long as work is completed on time, casual conversation is very encouraged. -Great management. Different departments will often help one another if needed, and the company is large enough to shift employees to help where needed instead of laying people off when a particular client's workload ebbs. I appreciate the job security that comes with that. My supervisors have been excellent in addressing any work performance concerns early and positively. They want people to succeed here and apply the right approach. -Work-Life Balance. There are workout classes, paid volunteering opportunities, and fun events here that are great to take advantage of. PTO accrual begins on day one, and in my experience scheduling days off has been very simple and painless to have approved. Overtime does happen, and different departments have varying levels of work, but most weeks I have worked a tidy 40 hours. -Investment in the employee. The amount of hands-on training, engineering and professional skills instruction, transparency of the promotion ladder, and approachability by every level on management here is bar-none the best I've ever seen. Pay and benefits have been great for this relatively green design engineer. I have no doubt the compensation at higher levels is also more than fair. Work here if you can!
Cons
Could use some better chairs. Grasping at straws honestly.
