Pros
I’ve been with Hippo for 4 years and plan to stay for the foreseeable future, which says a lot. Overall, it’s been a positive experience.
One of the biggest benefits has been flexibility as a parent. It varies by department, but in my team, I’ve been able to prioritize my growing family — especially with a 1- and 3-year-old and their unpredictable schedules. That flexibility has made a huge difference in this stage of life.
Career development is also encouraged. Leadership supports setting goals and having open conversations about growth. I shared with my manager that I wanted to move up in the company, we created a plan, and I was able to achieve that goal. That level of support and follow-through meant a lot to me.
Cons
If you work on a smaller team, it can sometimes feel isolating or like you’re not always fully connected to the broader organization.
While remote work is a major benefit, it can also feel lonely at times compared to being in the office. That said, for me, the trade-off is absolutely worth it to have the flexibility to raise young kids.
