Pros
Staff are genuinely fired up about the mission and it shows. Projects take us to amazing places. No day is quite the same. The projects are interesting and satisfying. Supervisors are generally hands-off but come through when you ask for direction or support. There are lots of opportunities to learn on the job. Every year, management makes changes based on input by staff and volunteers.
Cons
It's important to know what you're signing on for and if it fits your idea of a good time. There's always a lot to do. The work doesn't end at 9-5. Things are always changing, and changing again -- it's both exciting and stressful. You have to be comfortable working without constant feedback and direction. Pay is okay but there are no health or retirement benefits.
