Pros

Holtz Rubentstein Reminick LLP provides a great work-life balance.

Cons

The majority of mangement lacks credentials and are nasty in general, promotions are based on favortism/neppotism, salary is low compared to Big 4, long waiting period for benefits, hire and fire based on seasonal needs, the CARE program (part of Human Resources) does not fulfill its goal for employee's mainly due to management's inability communicate effectively to employees, employees are extremely and unnecessarily competitive, the Melville Long Island office carpet has not been updated in over 15 years and the office is dirty (bugs & mold).

Pros

A mid-sized company with offices in NY & LI; worked as an Admin. Given great latitude in terms of scheduling, and the pay was above average for the type of work performed, comparable. The environment is 'officey' but friendly-minded. It's an accounting firm so nothing wild- office parties, outings, end-of-season party at a local restaurant. Go chance to interact with all levels of employees from admins, to entry-level accounting types, to mid- and senior-level partners. Focus is on building a productive environment, rather than sectioning off duties and responsibilites. Free dinners most nights during tax season, and taxi-rides home. Very flexible non-season hours, with early and casual Fridays.

Cons

It's an office environment with the usual politcs, though not too strong. Seems unlikely that movement from mid-level management to partner status was possible, most partners were either long-time employees (10+) or outside.
