The rate of pay is poor with no enhancements for unsociable hours i.e 5am start. And the contracted hours are low. Everyday we are expected to work beyond the rota shift but if we say that we are unable to stay on we are told that we have to. Notice of Improvement are handed out all the time for unavoidable situations like Illnesses or accidents or lateness even if only 5 mins late once in 4 months and lateness due to flooded roads on the way to work. Store management are untrained in people skills and seem to be unaware of employment law. We are always in fear of being fired for having 3 Notice of improvement being served and employees are not told about the appeals process or the fact they they don’t have to sign the NOI.
