Two words. Sweat shop. Working out back getting the merchandise off the truck is unbelievably demanding. For min wage. - Sales Associate HomeGoods Employee Review

Pros

I really wish I could think of one, to give a balanced review. But I keep looking at the whole experience from a customer's point of view and therefore can't think of one pro.

Cons

The work is very hard and you feel like a horse or robot. You're pushed very hard. The morale was less like a job and more like a prison. There seemed to be more focus on pushing credit cards than providing great customer service. The furniture would practically fall apart right off the truck. So much of it had to be trashed before it even made it to the floor. None of it was real wood. When bad nicks or damage was on a piece a marker was used to cover it up. Some stuff was sent out to the floor with concealed structural damage. These practices weren't store specific. Very shady company.

Pros

it is a job if you desperately need one

Cons

management does not keep promises (e.g. I was promised $2 higher pay upon accepting the position and later was told it wasn't feasible anymore once starting. I was also promised a specific day off then last minute had it revoked because they decided to make it a mandatory day). management does not listen to or care about its employees, very unprofessional. store managers don't want to do anything to help, they just sit in the office. management let other employees slack off and do nothing and expected others to compensate for their lack of effort general manager was horribly rude and misogynistic. he threw a box at someone while visiting.
