Pros

Only promotes from within, leading to great career opportunity if you’re willing to put in the work, and most people can move on to good places when/if they decide to leave. The MDs are skilled, friendly, and invested in your success. Small size of the company means that you become very familiar with all aspects of your project quickly, and you become very familiar with Excel. Most of the employees are in their 20s, and happy hours and other out-of-work get togethers are a fairly common occurrence.

Cons

Despite the small size of the company, lower-level employees are often not consulted on matters pertaining to strategy or staffing, which can lead to unnecessary idle time and some discontent among analysts and associate managers. Additionally, although HRG has two front-office employees, most “receptionist” work (answering calls, getting mail) falls to the analysts. The CEO’s demeaning, uncomfortable, and unprofessional comments, absurd rules, and penchant for screaming will remain one of the main reasons people quit as long as he is a fixture in the office. This causes outsize harm to the company due to its small size. Surrounding area (Tarrytown) isn’t great but since you have to eat in the office it doesn’t matter much.

Pros

Great camaraderie amongst employees, really cooperative group. Strong spirit of helping each other out to help get work done. Really get to understand and be experts in clients’ businesses. Client teams truly want to help clients make the most of the analyses and work hard to make that happen. Greater and greater responsibility is given as ability is shown. Work for very high profile clients with large marketing budgets. Affect large changes on an ongoing basis and grow clients’ businesses steadily. Exposure to a wide range of client’s organization, from junior to the most senior.

Cons

Workflow can be hard to predict ahead of time, particularly when delivering against client needed timing, which doesn’t move much despite delays in receiving needed information.

Pros

None, this company is dead

Cons

Thank god this company went defunct. Don’t think the actual founders knew what analytics is. They would make up numbers but using logic from the 1990s or the early 2000s.
