Pros

Exposure to client-based projects and real-world applications. Initially stable work environment with some supportive individuals.

Cons

Management support was limited, especially after leadership changes. Instances of unprofessional behavior in meetings. Micromanagement and unclear performance evaluation affected growth and salary progression. Eventually had to exit during a formal HR discussion due to project availability constraints.

Hughes Systique Response

Dear anonymous, Hughes Systique is an employee centric organization and has never asked people to leave for lack of work or projects, even during times of economic downturn. Apart from customer centric projects, the organization also has its own R&D and product teams and all employees have an active project to work on. We do not have a concept of bench. Additionally, we are not sure about what "leadership changes" in your review mean – as the entire leadership team has been intact since the company’s inception. Please note that the IT industry has a fast-evolving technology landscape and every engineer is required to continue upskilling and reskilling to keep growing in the industry. Hughes Systique has several communication channels with easy accessibility to the senior management who appreciate direct feedback in order to sort out issues, if any. Be it internal platforms like Amber, Q2M, Zero Hour etc. leveraging which employees can share concerns and suggestions anonymously, or talking directly to their managers, Engineering Group Heads, the Engineering Head or for that matter, with Mr. Vinod Sood, the MD. Needless to say, that our core values like Openness, Trust and Respect are the foundation of any communication and transaction that we have in the company. Nevertheless, we wish you the best for your future endeavours.

Pros

Great learning environment overall, especially if mentored under the right type of person (this factor is critical especially if employed in its India office - most US-based Hughes Systique and Hughes Networks Systems employees - techies or managers - are truly world-class). Great working environment in some projects and groups - the good managers and leads are truly awesome!!!

Cons

Extremely top-heavy org structure - about 40% employees have a 'manager' tag, and about 20% of all employees have corner offices. Number of total employees has remained stagnant over the last 5 years or so - a BIG negative for an aspiring IT Services major. Business acumen of some (not all) of the senior management folks is questionable. House of Extremes - the bad managers can be pathetic at best, horrendous at worst. Sycophantic culture has permeated some parts of the company. Generally considered to be a retirement resort for all senior management types (most of whom have been peers from Hughes Software Systems/Flextronics Software Systems/Aricent). Your chances of vertical growth beyond Senior Principal Engineer/Engineer Manager are next to nil if you are not of the right pedigree (read: an Aricent/HNS/HSS/FSS alumnus).
