Pros

Employee-owned, practiced profit-sharing, had great team of people to work with. Stores were clean, well-managed and serviced and the level of care and pride employees had towards their jobs was reflected in loyalty with customers.

Cons

High turnover with middle management - many using it as a stepping stone to train for other positions within the company. Sometimes policies were too heavily "customer is always right" - and management would often back customers over employees.

Pros

Hy-Vee is a great company that truly cares about the communities we serve. Our 14 fundamentals drive both the customer and employee experience, guiding how we treat and serve our customers and each other. Leadership actively seeks employee feedback and uses it to drive meaningful change across all locations. There is a wide variety of jobs and career opportunities in many different areas of the company from retail to supply chain, IT, marketing, and so many more. obust employee benefits include tuition assistance for degrees, certifications, and foundational learning at little to no cost to employees, and the company focuses on promoting from within for most leadership roles.

Cons

As a 24/7 retail business, scheduling can be demanding in some roles — though the variety of positions means there's flexibility to find the right fit. With a large, decentralized workforce spread across hundreds of locations, consistent employee communication is an ongoing area of focus and improvement.
