Pros

Room for advancement if you want to stay in the grocery industry. They give you a great deal of autonomy to make your own decisions, especially when it comes to customer interactions. Great medical benefits Good opportunity to gain experience of all facets of grocery, because you will be utilized in many different areas.

Cons

No transperancy in pay. People holding the same title or doing similar work can be paid very different amounts. They expect a lot of out of you with little in return, your pay or appreciation does not go up the more you do. You have to ask for a raise several times before even being acknowledged and then the raises are minimal. Little to no training. Most of the things you learn you learn them on the job. Hy-Vee pays its employees different amounts for the same position or similar work, but expects a lot in return. There is little to no training, and your pay and appreciation never increase, regardless of how hard you work. If you do get a raise, it will be minimal. I had to ask for a raise many times before I was even acknowledged. If you're looking for a job with a company that values its employees and compensates them fairly, then this might not be the job for you.

Pros

I really enjoyed my coworkers and the management of the store. There were a handful of people who worked there at the time who weren't necessarily my favorite, but overall the team was good.

Cons

There we no significant cons. The pay is not the highest, but these are mainly entry level jobs.
