Pros

I’ve been with Hyland for 10+ years. I can honestly say you won’t find another company like this one. Any company you work for is going to have its pros and cons, but the pros at Hyland outweigh the cons. You feel like you’re part of something special here. Yes people will complain that it’s not that small company feel that we had when we started out, but that’s the reality of becoming successful. We are growing at a rapid pace and everyone is experiencing growing pains right now. It’s a company that “still” cares about its employees and really does try and promote the work life balance. The problem is most employees (especially) those that have been with Hyland 10+ years are very dedicated to the company and feel that the success of the company rides on our shoulders. Still wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. They give you every opportunity to get involved and to provide your feedback and they actually listen. Great place for those with small children. Hyland gets it and they are very flexible when you have Dr apptointments, school activities, sick kids at home etc. Family always comes first, and your coworkers and managers support you. When you read negative reviews about Hyland, it’s typically individuals that start at Hyland and think it’s all fun and games, it’s a fun place to be, but don’t be mistaken, there’s a LOT of hard work that goes into the success of the company.

Cons

Rapid growth has forced the need for some promotions into management of individuals that probably shouldn’t be. The skill of emotional intelligence that was once a focus has been thrown to the wayside, which is an issue. Management takes on a lot of stress and responsibility, and it feels like somewhat of a thankless job. Not a lot of incentive to be in management. Some non technical departments live under a tremendous amount of daily high stress, which is fine and understandable at times, but it’s becoming a normal part of the job. The stress all has to to with the growth and constant push to close business and schedule services without adding additional resources. This may cause some turnover, if not addressed.

Pros

Work/life balance Great people to work with on daily basis Ability to work remote (US based) Plenty of development opportunities I've been given the tools I need to do my job and be innovative I have an amazing manager and team that I lead

Cons

I am restricted on where I can hire new employees right now. There are a lot of competing priorities with similar deadlines which can be stressful, but the days go by fast.

Pros

Remote or hybrid capability. Usually a flexible schedule.

Cons

Constant quiet firing. They've figured out how to avoid public disclosures quite well. Every month they're whacking batches of 20~30 employees - esp. if you were in a higher pay band or part of an acquired company. There's constant leadership churn as of late - not that leadership was ever that great, but the clownshow has more makeup on the pigs now. If you were part of an acquired company, the stench of nepotism was constant. Hyland doesn't provide legitimate training or certification assistance for everyone. Their products would fail any sort of security scan by an AI tool too. If you're a customer, buyer beware.
