Pros
I learned a lot about the millwork and construction industry working here. I got along very well with management and they seemed to genuinely care for me and my well being. I started out as an entry level employee on a low salary. I worked very hard, relative to my peers, and proved to be an effective project manager. As a result, I received generous raises and bonuses each of my four years here.
Cons
This industry, in general, is a mess with unreasonable deadlines, high stress and demanding clients. Icon is no exception. They will often take on projects without doing their due diligence, putting project managers under pressure to achieve unreasonable goals. Furthermore, the company runs too lean; even in a project manager role your responsibilities will include many low skill, time-consuming, administrative functions such as invoicing and shipping. Lastly, while all the employees are kind, there is no real company culture or onboarding/training process; i.e. sink or swim.
