Unmotivated Workplace and Lack of Good Leadership - Scientist Imerys Employee Review

Pros

The pay is average here and due to the bare-minimum work-life there is good work-life balance. So if you have a child or get sick a lot, this is the place to work because you can go home- but watch out, go home too much too soon and you'll be cut. Mine/plant employees are very nice, but they don't like the city folk because city folk (upper management) usually come with bad news about more required overtime, pay cuts, budget cuts, etc. Some people are super hard working here, but their never given the bonus they deserve nor the credit.

Cons

Century-old businesses usually are so rooted in the economy that they become sustainable without much employee work (unless you're in sales or business management). Thus, the work-life here is 'stuck in the mud.' The bare-minimum is accepted by management, so that's all there is. Bare-minimum work, until their head is bit off, then it's the lowest person on the totem-poles problem. As long as the customer gets what they want, nothing else is done (no leadership mentee programs, encouragement to use your gifts/talents, making the business more efficient, etc.). The turnover rate is over 25% (all of the good people leave). Most employees are complacent due to wanting to be paid and then go home and live then. There is no career growth in the science sector here. Additional responsibilities are given to those who have worked there the longest, and pay doesn't increase much (bonus' are wacky). Unless Imerys creates a work culture that promotes creativity, ingenuity, and efficiency and then appreciates, celebrates, and PAYS them appropriately (retain good employees!) I think they will always stay stagnant and with a 3 star rating. And everyone who says the people are great and that's it, aren't really trying on this review thingy.

Pros

Great company to work for, would love to be there for the long term, benefits are great most of the people are great, the work feels accomplishing.

Cons

Management has changed over the years. It’s to be determined if it’s for the better. They cater to the buddy system. If you’re their buddy, you get away with murder. If not, well prepare to be overworked and dogged on for “not doing enough”
