Cons
Based my grades at Impact Automation per direct experiences that should be of concern with this company so please be aware about accepting employment. In summary these are my major points in no particular order. Favoritism and nepotism – Coming fresh into the company it is easy to see that you are not treated the same as people that have “been there since the beginning” for the owner. Neighbors, friends, family members and people from the robotic club are treated with more respect and given more money, time, and responsibilities regardless of their skill, experiences, or responsibilities. Favorites can and did make mistakes without any accountability while new employees are micro-managed by ownership without regard or understanding. Witnessed multiple times owner disrespecting and mistreating employees based on rash or untrue judgments. Unrealistic expectations – new employees are given tasks without training or guidance and then deemed not a good employee because they don’t know what they are doing. Company is extremely clicky and difficult to ramp up or excel in any position. Burnout culture – given the industry and upper management short vision, there is a constant flux of workload. Again, the industry does have something to do with it, but ownership thinks a hotdog safari, pizza party, or ice cream social will solve the long work hours and unreasonable expectations. Ownership says he wants to have a certain “family” atmosphere but it is more of a talking point and really does not care about his employees based on actions. Poor communications – never fully understand the tasks of your job and ownership is not aligned with upper management. Ownership continually going to individuals changing their tasks based on his wants but not talking with management. Having the feeling that you are being pulled in multiple direction and not knowing who is actually running the company. Lack of trust – this is very similar to favoritism. New employees are not trusted and start off as not being able to be successful at their job. Again, goes to the environment as well as lack of consistent HR or training. Communication to management – This is more about how HR operates in this company. The HR representative is a close personal friend of the owner and any issues you may have goes onto deaf ears and can actually make the situation worse. Micromanagement – because of the lack of trust, constant over the shoulder review by ownership you will quickly feel that everything will end up as a failure and ownership will use that to showcase worth and ability. Definitely a toxic environment that will bring out the worse in any employee. Workplace Bullying – starts with ownership Overloading top performers – there are about 4-5 top performers in the company and lot of others that are there for a paycheck. Upper management pushes on the top performers more as that is easier to get tasks completed then address the issues of underachievers. Again, a lot of the underachievers are favorites to ownership.
