Pros

They send you (and spouse/partner) a birthday present. There are several good options for lunch within walking distance. Parking is covered for employees regularly going to the office and can be easily expensed for visitors. Healthy snacks and drink options are provided daily.

Cons

- What is expected of your job and what is advertised during the hiring process do not line up at all. The experience here is far from “one-of-a-kind” and more typical of a startup with growing pains. My advice is to ask as many questions as possible about the role before proceeding with the interview process. - The interview process is rather arduous and excessive with several stages (4+) including a take-home assignment. They are upfront about the length of the process right from the beginning. - Advancement opportunities are mostly nonexistent for people in technical (IT/DevOPS) positions at the Houston office. Vertical moves are also discouraged while some moves are outright prohibited depending on the department. It is difficult to envision a long and meaningful career with Imubit. - Salaries are generally below market level across the board. An enormous effort is made to mask this deficiency through various means that don’t involve adjusting pay scales. - Insurance offerings leave much to be desired and are particularly hard on diabetics or people with other chronic conditions requiring routine medication. - The company is almost wholly dependent on the US Oil & Gas industry and subjected to its fluctuations and problems. COVID showed just how volatile that market really is within a month after the pandemic was declared. - You will often feel like you can never disconnect from your job. You will be bombarded with several things at once daily, but then also asked why you are not working on any larger projects. Imposter syndrome will set in very quickly even after a short time. It always seems to feel like you are never giving enough effort no matter how late you work every night. - Remote work is considered to be a necessary evil and not in their permanent plans. If you live in the Houston area, you will be expected to commute to the office at least occasionally even if the role says it’s full remote or flexible. I can’t speak for other departments, but there is literally nothing that is required of a technical role at Imubit that requires physical presence at the office. - The office is small with most workers cramped into a single space called “The Pit”. If you need any semblance of quiet, then this is not the environment for you especially if WFH is eventually prohibited. - The 401k plan has no match. - They pay on a monthly basis. - PTO is “unlimited”, but you will never feel comfortable taking vacation in this environment. - Raises should not be expected and are incredibly difficult to obtain. Cost of living adjustments are not provided. - Bonuses or other incentives are not offered. - Company provided equipment, tools, and software licenses are acquired as cheaply as possible. - Company phones are not provided and compensation for using a personal device is not offered. - HR and departmental polices are generally more "reactive" than "proactive". You will feel serious whiplash as things always seem to be in a constant state of flux, but nothing of note gets accomplished.

Really great people all around. The technology is interesting and cutting edge. Really enjoyed working with so many talented, down to earth and hardworking team members.

Cons

Systems are not fully fleshed out since the company is relatively young so a lot of work to be done and some days can be extremely hectic
