Pros

the opportunities to write on interesting topics make for a great opportunity. ITIF also represents some top companies that you'll get a chance to rub elbows with but this mostly all the org has going for it

Cons

The founder, Rob Atkinson has a preset agenda. I was told before I joined that the organization is run like a wolf pack and it certainly is. Mr. Atkinson only cares about his opinion being promoted. If Mr. Atkinson does not agree with your opinion or your paper, blog, etc. then it won't be published. At least 10 of my coworkers have left already because of Mr. Atkinson, what's more, Mr. Atkinson has made some off-hand comments that at best are ignorant and at worst prejudice. To add injury to insult Mr. Atkinson does not do a good job of retaining senior staff. Upon my coworkers leaving he simply sends out an email and moves on like business as usual.

Pros

- Some teams are great to work with. - Junior staff are excited, engaged, intelligent, and a pleasure to work with. - Nice office and weekly meal. - Good work - life balance

Cons

- Senior leaders maintain an enormous amount of control over all aspects of operations and products. Lots of micromanagement. Autonomy and team trust don't exist. - Most senior leaders have been at the organization for many years and have little interest in hearing about concerns from junior staff. If concerns are brought up, they are unlikely to be resolved especially if the concern involves a senior staffer's behavior. - The organization and senior leaders have an inflated sense of their own importance. ITIF feels like it is a big player in political matters, but in reality, very few policymakers know what the organization is. It would do ITIF well to eat some humble pie and level set. - The health and other job benefits are very underwhelming. PTO accrual is slow and health insurance is disappointing.
