Pros

Insignia Federal has great management that really cares about employees and offers a flexible schedule with little restriction on taking leave as long as you give plenty of notice. The rate of hourly pay is great considering it is a part-time position. If desired, there are travel opportunities with per diem. You work almost 100% independently while still having the ability to reach out to management if there is a problem. This is a great job for developing skills, building your resume and helping others in the process. I never had to take my work home with me which made for stress free weekends/evenings. There are also many opportunities to network and access future professional opportunities.

Cons

There is little room to advance and few benefits offered to part-time employees. There are no paid leave days and if you travel for a workshop, you are only paid per diem and not for your hours spent traveling. The part-time work schedule can be inconsistent at times. Some months you will have three workshops, others you will only have one. It is a great supplementary income, but would not be a reliable primary income. While leave is very flexible, last minute emergencies are difficult to accommodate due to limited staff availability. With all of that being said, these details are just based on your personal preferences when it comes to employment. Insignia Federal is truly a wonderful place to work.

Pros

Autonomy, support, flexibility, and camaraderie.

Cons

Little room to grow, but that's more about the nature of the contracts than the company itself.

Pros

One manager was great -- all the others for the contracts turned out to be terrible.

Cons

The business model seems to be to overpromise and underdeliver, leaving the Instructional designers (ISDs) to fend for themselves. I worked for a few projects, and the POCs/managers for each contract were all over the place - some were on top of things, some were not-- being out of touch, dropping the ball, or saying whatever they could to make the client happy, whether or not their promises were realistic, making things unnecessarily difficult for ISDs. Their goal is to quickly slot in people for contracts, whether or not they are a great match. This does not benefit employees, teams, or clients, and it can be a really big problem for everyone, but Insignia don't take responsibility for the problems they create. Also, contracts are offered on short notice and infrequently, so you can't really decline, since who knows when the next offer will be. One note on benefits: they offer a 401K contribution, but it's a "match" of 25% of what the employee contributes, which is capped at 4%. In other words, the Insignia contribution is capped at 1% -- virtually nothing. It says a lot about how much they value employees.
