Pros

Hybrid model, flexibility to some degree

Cons

Poor leadership who only cares about how all their employees can make them money for their next house or boat, do not actually care about employees well-being. Poor, lazy HR team who do not want to work or contribute to company culture In-state employees are forced to come into the office although out of state employees never do. They do not care about your commute, if you live in Massachusetts, you must come in. Started as a remote first company and changed their tune quickly to drive “sales” Sales is the only department that gets recognized with incentives and trips There is no identity Will work you to your limit without concern for your mental health Very disorganized, departments do not speak to each other and no one knows what is going on Leadership cares about their “bottom line” driven by the board members and will fire people without notice or care Leaders never show up to work but expect everyone else to Toxic culture and people love to point fingers and never take responsibility Employees leaving at record speed to avoid horrible management

Pros

- low burnout - i have no on-call schedule (batch jobs not always on services) - work hour flexibility is good, i even spent a month in Europe doing wfh and it was not a problem - Solid culture and smart engineers. The reason why its good here is that this company still employs all the smart people that are needed to build a backend from scratch. Unlike an early start up though, it also has done a ton of work to make it not a hacky first viable product, and to split things up in a way thats not stressful for anyone. - pay. i got hired for the same wage as my last company pays for Sr. Eng, but as an Eng. - CTO position was filled by a smart engineer / scientist instead of some outside hotshot who has no idea wtf is going on. refreshing

Cons

- to get the best benefits you have to go in 3x per week - working with our partner companies is sometimes frustrating -
