Pros

Some of the people working there are genuinely nice and positive, team-oriented and supportive of the company’s mission. Even in upper management, there were individuals who seemed like genuinely good people. I never received much pushback when requesting time off, which I appreciated. They’re generally open to investing in tools or software you believe will help with your work, and there’s not much red tape around it. When the company is doing well, they like to portray themselves as generous—offering things like Christmas parties and other small perks. The benefits were decent. Not amazing, but respectable. They did encourage people to take time off when dealing with physical illness.

Cons

Upper management constantly shifted priorities, meetings, and expectations. They claimed to care about employee concerns but were clearly more focused on revenue and client acquisition, without reinvesting meaningfully in the team or QA processes. Frequent favoritism and nepotism—family members and friends of leadership held key roles, often treated with leniency or given insider info. Promises were often made but rarely kept. People would suddenly be let go without explanation, warning or discussion. So if you do end up working for them and suspect you're not in lock step with management, I'd recommend you get out before they show you the door. They used the “small company” excuse to justify disorganization, overwork, and lack of accountability. Reviews were lopsided, with a focus on criticism and peer critiques that leadership could read, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. KPIs seemed more like tools to justify firing or salary stagnation rather than improve performance. Middle managers were often untrained and without leadership skills. Suggestions to improve workflow or morale were routinely dismissed. I don't think they meant ill in all circumstances, but the overall philosophy I found to be unintentionally toxic. I became more depressed and stressed working here than any other place in my career. I've never had 1 on 1's and performance reviews be so focused on all the ways my KPIs weren't 100% anywhere else. It instilled bad habits in me, making me constantly second guess myself, but then worry about the extra amount of time it was taking to go over it all again.
