Pros

The only good thing to come out of this place is unlimited vacation.

Cons

Things Invodo Does and Does Not Do: a Short Story. Does: Make you feel like you are disposable Condone rampant sexism and discrimination Hire inept and under qualified management and provides them with bloated salaries Keeps said management around even after their department has fallen apart and their ineptitude has seeped out of every pore Hires under-qualified people into high ranking roles from within because it is easier than the hiring process to find a qualified employee Promotes a hostile work environment when concerns are raised about unfairness, sexism, discrimination, want for salary/title promotions to direct supervisors Drags you along for years as a contractor until finally offering you a lowball, flat out insulting offer for full-time employment Prides itself on self-importance Employs C-level executives and mid-level managers with egos big enough to choke a horse Mistreats contractors, whom they employ full-time and treat as employees without hiring them on and giving them benefits (WHICH IS ILLEGAL) Promotes a 'boys club' from tip to tail -- if you're not in it, you're SOL when it comes to fair and just performance reviews, compensations, and more Placates employees when things are bad by lying that everything is OK Refuse to acknowledge what the company is or should be Hire employees who have no previous experience in art directing / creative directing / agency experience / production / etc. Reward misogynistic behavior Lay off people in a group setting because they are too cowardly to do it 1:1 Reward employees who have constantly failed in their job by promoting them Promise career growth only to never follow through Does not: Accept new ideas if they come from anyone that is not in the boys club Listen, engage, or proactively act on complaints of sexism and harassment in the workplace Hire qualified people Communicate. Period. Understand the company's vision or mission Have management who are in touch with what is new, hip, cutting edge Have management who treat employees like humans Have managers that don't favor blatant nepotism for their drinking buddies and friends Follow through on promises of growth in the company Lay off people who have constantly underperformed or failed in their role because more than likely they are drinking buddies with their supervisor so it's all good Appreciate loyal employees who have spent years breaking their back for the company Tell the truth or understand the importance of transparency

Invodo Response

Thanks for your comments, we seriously consider and value all feedback. We've always focused on creating a work environment built on openness, teamwork and respect in which everyone feels valued, so I'm disappointed when feedback of this nature is received. We seek to understand and carefully consider all feedback - it's a big part of building a great culture at Invodo. That being said, I'd like to address a couple of your specific points of concern. First, we are constantly seeking to optimize our relationship with the community of creative and production freelancers we engage. As the production side of our business evolves, so does our need for certain disciplines in order to meet the evolving needs of our clients. We work with an amazing community of freelancers that are subject-matter experts in any number of fields. We recognize the challenges of working in this framework and will continue to seek more effective ways to partner with external professionals. We review these relationships frequently to make sure it's a mutually beneficial relationship for both parties - we encourage our freelancers to make the same assessments. Admittedly, this was made even more difficult recently as a very large project ended, which made it necessary to separate with a number of our talented freelancers. Second, and most importantly, any complaint that suggests discrimination or a hostile work environment is taken very seriously. We have consistently provided multiple points of contact to gather feedback and concerns and have redoubled our efforts to ensure we’re aware of all concerns or complaints. We will take appropriate actions based on any issues we discover. We have always strived to build an open, ethical and inclusive culture and will continue to do so. Craig

Pros

1. Generally free-spirited work environment. 2. Vacation policy (or lack thereof). 3. Decent downtown location. 4. Lots of potential for young, hard-working ambitious personalities to be involved in generally interesting work.

Cons

1. A serious lack of vision, direction and management at the C-Level, most notably the CEO/CFO. Invodo's senior management goes to great lengths to try and self-identify with a cultural dogma of ingenuity and creativity but has no idea how to actually foster such an environment. Senior management lacks a fundamental understanding of the constantly evolving tech space which breeds an atmosphere of resentment and alienation from those in the trenches. 2. Very poor work/life balance at mediocre/sub-standard market wages for the Austin job market. 3. Reasonable requests for raises/support staff/etc met with firm and ungiving resistance from management despite constant claims of profitability and growth. 4. Lack of accountability for underachieving/culturally poisonous employees who are few and far between but cemented due to internal politics and the absence of middle management.
