Cons
Toxic Culture and Micromanagement Overshadow the Initial Promise I want to begin by stating that I am the only person on campus with my current job title, and there is a 5-star review on Glassdoor at the time I was employed that appears to be written as if it were from me and I can confirm I most certainly did not write it. Be cautious when reading positive reviews, as they may be fake. When I was hired, the onboarding experience felt incredibly positive — full of encouragement, promises of autonomy, and a sense of being respected. Unfortunately, that shifted almost immediately. Once you begin working at Ivy Tech Marion, it becomes clear that employees are not trusted to do the work they were hired for. Micromanagement is the norm, to the point that it actively interferes with job performance. There is a noticeable culture of chauvinism and an alarmingly high turnover rate. It has been deeply disheartening to watch a revolving door of capable, talented employees (many of them women) leave due to a toxic environment, much of which stems from leadership at the top. Numerous complaints have been raised with the systems office by several employees over time, but to date, no meaningful changes have been made to improve the work culture. Be careful if you are looking to seek out a position at this campus.
