Pros
- flexible working schedule on off-seasons, great for traveling
- HR director is approachable, i felt like it was pretty easy to schedule time off
- salary is not eye-popping but given the cost of living and the low taxes (basic package is 250-290k rmb for entry level consultants, which comes out to ~37k to ~43k USD, but tax is only like 10%, so it's like getting a 60 something k package in NY. i was able to live more comfortably than i did in the US while still paying off my student loans, even though i traveled often.
- people were awesome
- students were really fun, there were a few bad apples but most of them were cool kids
- management was ok. i think they were just too busy to focus on each individual employee, but the senior staff were really helpful and nice
Cons
- i didn't really think of being in the position or in china long term, so i didn't get as many responsibilities as others, which meant i did more menial stuff.
- like everybody says, application season gets busy so be prepared to work OT
- sometimes you get a difficult student you have to work with, which is a grind
