Pros
Super laid back and very flexible hours. The company really really cares about their interns. Unless you are specifically a survey intern, they will not send you out with the survey crew often if at all. The CEO Rob Brigham is awesome, and truly cares about the company. If you're in need of internship don't be afraid to look into the smaller office locations in Grand Island and Hastings. you'll have plenty of interaction with the other Interns in Lincoln and/or Omaha at retreats and meetings. As an Intern you will be assigned to a specific individual as their "assistant" in order to give that employee some management experience, but all of your work will be meaningful. Lots of opportunities to drive out to project sites in the smaller offices out west, which make for great breaks throughout the day. There are many opportunities to work on different types of projects, I had my hands in water resources, environmental, and transportation projects.
Cons
Few downsides. Sometimes in the smaller offices there is a small lack of Intern level work, but everyone will do their best to find you something to bill hours on. The small offices out west can get to be a little lonely at times for a young adult, but if you start there, it is very likely you'll have an open position with your name on it in Lincoln, Omaha, or Ankeny IA the following year.
