JJ Food Service Response
7yThank you for taking the time to leave us your detailed review. We would like to respond to a few of the points that you raised.
First of all, we’d like to thank you for highlighting our flexible working hours as a benefit. We understand that many staff members have families and commitments at home and we do our best to accommodate that.
Thank you for noticing that many of our employees are graduates. It’s true – we like to attract young talent and give them all the opportunities to progress. Many of our managers actually started in sales and purchasing roles. We like to think that our managers have stayed with us for many years because we have supported their career progression, sharing advice and best practice along the way. We also have plenty of free training available.
JJ Foodservice is one of the founding supporters of Women in Wholesale, which is a project to inspire, support and progress female talent at all levels working in the industry.
We were also the first UK wholesaler to launch a ‘Warehouse Women’ campaign to attract more diversity into our warehouses. We are keen to attract and retain talent regardless of gender, nationality or anything else.
We pride ourselves on being a truly multi-cultural and diverse business. We’re not perfect but like to think we are moving in the right direction.
Some of our employees may have rather large ‘egos’, as you have stated, however we will always do our best to prevent our team members from being subjected to verbal or physical abuse even from some of our long term employees.
You are also right about us making a profit, we have to make some profit in order pay salaries, open new branches etc – that’s generally how businesses work. We were pleased to be able to continue paying you when you took a year off sick and hope that you feel better now.
We are sorry that you left us after eight years, but due to our commitment to protect the welfare of our staff we will not be able to accept future applications from yourself.
Thanks
