Cons
Jellycat was a wonderful experience at first. The people were lovely, and many had been there for years, some even since the creation of the brand. But when the CEO took full control, the company became extremely toxic. I saw people leave after more than 25 years of work, and others disappear from one day to the next without any explanation, because everything is hidden and communication simply doesn’t exist. There is a lot of hypocrisy from management. You work extremely long hours, they constantly ask for more, yet there is no recognition or appreciation. Employees feel like they have no voice. Managers seem focused solely on pleasing the CEO and upper management because they fear being fired. They often hire people who are easily controlled to fit that agenda. Harassment and manipulation are real concerns. You receive emails late at night expecting work to be finished by the next morning. There is no organisation and no communication. Many people leave due to burnout or end their days in tears. It’s worse than micromanagement. And the worst part is the mandatory “well-being at work” meetings, which feel completely disconnected from reality. There is no flexibility, and the job you are sold is nothing like the reality you face. The hypocrisy is overwhelming. Unfortunately, employees are treated the same way customers are treated: with no support, no communication, and a lot of dishonesty and manipulation.
