Pros
Working as a co-manager, I mostly enjoyed my part-time staff as they were all really cool and fun people to be around, my fellow co-managers and I got along pretty well as we were all in the same boat so to speak and the discount on shoes was pretty awesome. Occasionally, as a manager, you would receive free shoes for promotions or things of that nature.
Cons
LONG LONG HOURS. I'm talking, 55+ hour work weeks. Which would be fine if you were compensated in an appropriate manner. As a co-manager you get a set weekly rate (when I was there I think I received $165/week, so was guaranteed $330 per paycheck) and then a paltry 4% commission on anything that I sold, pre-tax. So, every $1000 worth of shoes I sold, I got another $40 on my paycheck (also pre-tax). On average, for around 90+ hours of work I would bring home between $650 and $750 every two weeks. That's $8 an hour on a really great week as sometimes I would get a check that was less than $600. Holiday was the only time you made any real money but it was also the worst time of the year because for the month of December you are only allowed one day off a week. My personal relationships and my state of mind/health deteriorated after 2 years working in management. It seemed the only way to get ahead was to be a suck up to the DM's and be really cut throat and catty to anyone that got in your way. While we got along for the most part, there was animosity and strain alot of times between myself and the other co-managers. Part timers don't work for commission but co-managers are competing against each other literally to put food on the table, much less make enough money to actually be financially independent and have money to have a little fun with (remember $1000 sold = $40 on your paycheck). In general I would never recommend this company to anyone other than people looking for a part time job. I could go into how ridiculous their standards are but I feel that the basic numbers of hours worked vs. money on paycheck speaks loudly enough on it's own.
