Pros

KNCH throws an annual holiday party that is generally very elaborate and enjoyable. All attorneys and staff are invited. There are a few people in the Las Vegas office that are a pleasure to work with and for, but with the high turnover rate, those good people most likely will not be around for long. 21 paid vacation days, but an 8.8 hour/day billable requirement.

Cons

The biggest downfall for KNCH Las Vegas, and the firm as a whole, is the management. The managing partner seems to enjoy striking fear into the hearts of the attorneys, partners included, and staff. Partners do not allow the associates to argue their own motions or have any client contact. Favoritism runs rampant. While some staff and attorneys will be spoken to regarding dress code, leaving a couple minutes early, or being one hour short on time; others can regularly dress inappropriately for the office, pad their billing to a point that it is absurd, use and abuse the PTO system - which, even after discovered, is completely overlooked and actually rewarded, and harass others in the office. There is no HR department for the firm so any complaints about the "favorites" or about the managing partner have to be brought to the named partners. In my time at KNCH there were at least three investigations of harassment and hostile work environment claims. Each of those investigations resulted in a lackluster "slap on the wrist" and chastising of the individual that made the complaint. There is a culture of lying and looking the other way. The "incentive" program is a joke and only inspires dishonest billing practices in the hopes of getting a few extra pennies.

Pros

The pay and benefits were good, and it's the only firm where PTO actually counted towards your billable hours, so there was none of that "unlimited PTO" BS that most firms offer. Also, the Christmas party is amazing every year and everyone you meet from the other branches seem really nice and happy.

Cons

The management in Orlando/Florida sucked. Management was hardly in the office and they would often bad mouth employees in the presence of other employees, creating a culture of extreme favoritism and unfairness. There's a male paralegal there who doesn't like to do work for female attorneys, so you'll be doing your own paralegal work. He might be overworked, but you wouldn't know because he's never in the office and he doesn't respond to emails or TEAMS messages. Management knows about the complaints about this male paralegal, but enables the behavior, so basically don't complain about him if you want to be liked/included. It's also a "boys club". Honestly, most firms have some level of a toxic work environment and KNCH wasn't that bad, but the worst part of the management was a lack of help and accountability. They will blame the associates for their failures and it's disheartening. Nobody wants to do a bad job, but it's inevitable when you don't get enough help from the partners and paralegals.
