Pros

-Very friendly employees -If you want to be made redundant, this is the place to go!

Cons

-Lied about quarterly bonuses -Told us our department was never at risk of redundancy in December, announced we were at risk of redundancy in March -Certain higher ups in the company are extremely arrogant and condescending -Company has no long term aspirations, they only think short term gains. They are happy to damage page reputation by pumping out misleading AI content if it means they'll make an extra $2.57

Pros

The interview process was quick and the team initially came across as enthusiastic.

Cons

The contract I was offered contained some of the most concerning terms I’ve seen in a creative role. The biggest issue was the expectation of unpaid overtime, paired with a built-in opt-out to the 48-hour Working Time Directive. For a role contracted at 37.5 hours a week with incredibly low pay, the implication was that significantly longer weeks could be required with no additional pay, bringing hourly pay below minimum wage, which is illegal under UK law. This immediately raised red flags about workload, boundaries, and overall culture. There were several other clauses that felt unnecessarily restrictive or out of step with industry norms, including a ban on outside creative work without written permission, very broad intellectual property claims, and even a clause allowing the company to lay employees off without pay. When I asked reasonable questions about these terms and requested clarification, the company responded by withdrawing the offer entirely, citing “concerns” rather than addressing the issues, telling me they didn’t believe the job was right for me because of these concerns. The turnaround was abrupt and didn’t reflect well on their professionalism or flexibility. Overall, this experience made me question how employees are treated once actually working there, especially regarding hours, boundaries, and transparency.

KOMI Group Response

Thank you for your feedback, we always appreciate the opportunity to hear from candidates and reflect on their experience with us, even when they don’t progress further. We’d like to gently clarify a few points raised in your review, as they do not reflect our contractual terms, approach, or culture. Like many businesses, we include a Working Time Directive opt-out in our contract as a standard clause, however, we respect each candidate’s right to discuss or decline this during the hiring process. Open conversations about contracts are welcomed, and we encourage questions to ensure clarity and alignment. The decision to withdraw the offer in this case was not due to the questions raised, but based on overall fit following multiple stages of the process. While we appreciate the passion for clarity and boundaries, we also need to feel confident that there’s mutual alignment, culturally and practically and unfortunately, we didn’t feel this was the case here. We’re proud of the team we’re building at KOMI and always looking to evolve, listen, and grow but we also stand by our right to make hiring decisions that support the best fit for both sides. If you would like to discuss this further, please reach out to me directly at gemmag@komi.group, Group People Director. We wish you the very best in your future opportunities.

Pros

• the employees are all incredibly talented and lovely people

Cons

I was made redundant as part of wider changes, and overall my experience was mixed. The removal of the HR function felt very jarring- especially when making multiple employees redundant, to remove the support for exisiting employees and ensuring wellbeing needs were being met. Leadership often lacks clear direction, and communication across the business could be much stronger. Priorities can shift without much explanation, which makes it hard to stay aligned. There are some great people in the company, but it would benefit from clearer leadership, better communication, and more structure. Favouritism is ripe in KOMI- unless you’re best pals with SLT you’re not going anywhere career wise.
