Pros
I worked in the environmental health division of KCHD for about a year and a half. At first, my experience was good. I enjoyed working under my direct supervisor and got along with everyone. The pay and schedule were great for the type of work done. Vacation time easy to schedule in advance.
Cons
Around late 2024, the EH division restructured some of its middle management and the change was horrendous. New managers were extremely condescending, micromanaging, and intolerant of employees' unique circumstances and (legitimate, physician-prescribed) requests for disability accommodations. I've since learned that many people in my former position are leaving in droves. Good! Middle management takes itself way too seriously (see below).
