Pros
Good mission and shipped quickly
Cons
Long hours, not much culture
Pros
Working on a breakthrough product with top minds in the industry is really inspiring. Very stable and worked through design system as well as a component-driven approach on the front end really make the development faster and pleasant to work. The back end is fast and stable while engineers are very responsive and talented. From my experience what usually takes weeks in an enterprise is done in hours here. I am amazed at how much we've managed to accomplish in one year and it makes me feel like there is nothing impossible.
Cons
It still requires time and excellent hard skills to understand architecture and app state management because the level of complexity of the product area itself is very high. Also, you have to think quickly and always be able to explain your point of view. Nothing is taken for granted. Deadlines are hard that require good time management skills and the ability to prioritize. It indeed creates stress but at the same time allows you to grow and move faster.
Pros
- Employees outside of leadership were nice to work with
Cons
- From day one a very apparent burnout culture was present, could feel no-one in standup meetings was happy. Everyone seemed stressed and management was irate and snappy with overworked employees - Getting paid as a contractor was like pulling teeth. Asking for details on my timesheets like when I went for a toilet breaks etc which was in breach of contract and refusing to sign things off until I had. Being made to work public holidays like christmas day then being told I wouldn't be paid for these hours - Breached contract terms several times on different items and management was not interested in addressing/ resolving these issues - Poor direction from a product standpoint, felt like leadership did not know what they were doing The worst startup I have worked for to date and this is far from my first rodeo in the startup world.
