Scientists are smart and fun people, science is really promising, location is fun with lots of good food, etc, nearby. The lower you are on the hierarchy here (meaning the less contact you have with company leadership), the happier you will be.

Management is dysfunctional, they are always operating in the red and juggling which bills to pay (i.e waiting to buy more coffee until they get some new funding), place is chock full of VP-levels who don't do much.

• Pay always lower than others in industry • Unless you are upper mgmt, you are not recognized for your hard work • Annual reviews never led to pay increases or bonuses, even for excellent performance and meeting milestones. • Company always operated in the red. Bills were never paid on time and vendors often put accounts on hold. As a result, equipment and supplies were always held up.
