Pros
Management and supervisors are really nice and know you personally, even though it is a huge super center. Customers come in and support the store and are happy to shop at Kmart even though a new Super Walmart was opened right next door. I do my job the way it should be done, by doing what is asked of me, and get compliments from supervisors, customers, other employees, and it is a great spot to be in even though I'm just working a minimum wage cashier position. Also time off is pretty good and management is really friendly if you make a mistake. In other words you do not get yelled at for everything you do wrong, but that might just be because I am a good worker there. :P
Cons
Pay is low of course. Its my first job and minimum wage will cut it for me now, but wish it could be a little higher. Pay raise? Ha! - Our Kmart is in major competition with Giant Eagle, Super Walmart and Target that are surrounding us, and especially with Walmarts new opening it was made a pretty significant dent in the business. So since Kmart is not flourishing, my friendly co-workers that have been there for two years are still earning the same minimum wage that I am. AND...They are pushing the rewards cards way too hard. They told us if we do not get 5 a shift we will get written up (which never happened). Most people have them already and the people that don't really do not want one.
