Pros

Benefit package better than most NPO Provides a good mission - program staff are dedicated and work very hard - services are necessary and important. Program staff is the backbone of this organization

Cons

To start - this organization desperately needs a new CEO and COO - having the two highest paid positions in an organization married... this is a huge conflict. Both the CEO and COO are self-serving, disrespectful, spiteful, and unethical to degrees that I can not even begin to process. I have seen deplorable acts of hate (to all people- LGBT, straight, allies, overweight, mentally handicapped, women, etc.), misconduct, and discrimination in my time at the agency. Their need to micromanage staffs PERSONAL life was one of the most ridiculous things I have ever experienced in my many years as a professional. The HR department is a joke, everything runs directly through the CEO, no one felt safe ever addressing a concern with a supervisor or HR because of fear it would get back to the CEO and could threaten your employment. If you were not part of the "chosen" staff you were treated like second class citizens. Extremely high demand on time, comp time was only given to selected staff members, while others worked the same amount of extra hours with no compensation. Fundraising monies were mismanaged and did not go to the areas that donors were told. CEO is media hungry - but does not follow through on projects. Several HUGE Press Conferences have been held to announce HUGE community projects and nothing has been done since - all show and no action, desperate to get more donations - but where are they going? Padding their own personal pockets one would assume, with several vacations a year, new cars, and salary increases.

Pros

Pros are the work we do everyday for the community and the support we get from the top down. After this latest election I am thankful I can do meaningful work and completely be myself and have the support from leadership.

Cons

Hard work but don't consider this a con.

Pros

I met some cool people.

Cons

Just stay away. The CEO pockets donation money, and the organization is mired in legal issues. The network exploits employees, fueling a high turnover rate, and offers no pay adjustments when workload increases. Management couldn’t care less about the relationships you build with participants or families, and they’ll feed false stories to clients when letting staff go. They’ll smile to your face, then undermine you behind your back. Harassment by strangers or even higher-ups is ignored. Expect to work yourself to exhaustion with zero appreciation. And judging by the luxury cars in the parking lot, you’d never guess this was a nonprofit.
