Pros
Personable coworkers Modern equipment Climate controlled Relatively clean, relaxed environment Single shift, days only
Cons
Organization level: Chaos Extreme lack of communication between management and employees Uncompetitive pay, and little to no raises. Some employees haven't received a raise in 5+ years, without reason. No pay scale in place. Pay is based on what they feel like paying a particular person, not based on their actual skills or abilities, achievements, performance, etc. Upper management is 500 miles away and is generally clueless to how things actually run in the shop or the overall morale of the workforce. I would estimate that at least half of the employees in the shop are preparing to retire within the next few years or are seeking employment elsewhere. In the past year three skilled employees totaling over 80 years of combined experience have left the company. There is little incentive to stick around. Shop supervisor likes to talk down to you like he always knows more than you. Ideas for improvement are generally rejected unless they are his ideas. So much untapped potential in the shop because of this.
